About

Two years after Baby & Company threw open it’s doors in a gritty warehouse in downtown Seattle, Mademoiselle magazine named it one of the 100 best boutiques in the U.S.

That was 1978, and Baby & Company has remained fashion-wise and fashion-relevant ever since.

The brainchild of Baby and Uri Burstyn, Baby & Company has always encouraged their customers to experiment and discover their own style.  Once considered quirky and eclectic, the store has become an icon of global fashion on first and Virginia.  At Baby & Company, fashion means well-crafted clothes and accessories that connect women and men with their inner beauty, confidence, and vision.

Credit goes to the staff at Baby & Company, who study fashion, art, and, design wherever they may be.  Together they have developed the store’s soulful collection based on intuition and an appreciation of beauty, detail, and quality.  In the 1970’s Baby & Company brought in unheard of lines like Kenzo and Castelbajac, and in the 80’s, Girbaud.  It’s not unusual for lines to be ‘discovered’ at Baby & Company, before they’ve made their mark on the industry.

Baby & Company, in its fourth decade, and continues to find sensual and intelligent offerings that adhere to the principal that life is the runway.  Current owners, Jill and Wayne Donnelly, have crossed many oceans and walked many continents to observe style anywhere and everywhere it is found.  Jill, former manager and buyer for 22 years, carries on the Baby & Company tradition and pays tribute to Baby and Uri’s vision daily.

We thank our devoted Baby & Company customers and want to continue surprising, delighting, and inspiring them, while inviting the next generation of visionary women and men to experience our point of view from first and Virginia.
